Madu Restaurant at Hotel Grims Grenka
Oslo, Norway
The restaurant and lounge area are inspired by traditional Norwegian themes and materials, but given a modern, almost abstract design, to underscore its contemporary expression. The ancient Norwegian log-house is used as a reference for long continuous wooden walls floating through the entire space, yet the use of integrated lighting and niches for seating give the expression a three-dimensional twist and an innovative outlook. Abstract fire- and water ingredients add to the impression. Fireplaces are integrated in the communal table and a water curtain makes up the semi-transparent division between the restaurant and the lounge/ bar area.
