Fyrstikkterrassen is located east of Oslo city centre, in an area with conflicting architectural styles. The client wanted an efficient and easily leasable building for, what were then, undefined leaseholders. This desire is reflected in the juxtaposition of volume types: the base containing multipurpose areas with the possibility of double height spaces with the higher blocks containing office functions.

Contextually, the project builds clear references to the surrounding buildings, despite its independent architectural expression. The defined base strengthens the urban qualities through its direct references to the surrounding street pattern, and the stepped section of the volumes reflect and link the varying heights of the built surroundings.
